The Battle of Guilford Courthouse is one of the turning points to the Revolutionary War. Declared a loss by the Americans, Genereal Nathaneal Greene was quoted as rallying the troops saying, “We fight, get beat, rise, and fight again.” While General Cornwallis, his soldiers battered by the American forces declared, “Another such victory would ruin the British army.”
So, it’s no surprise the Natville knows how to put on a July 4th Convergence. 60+ men rolled out into the Gloom (with 6 already completing The Murph prior to the official festivities (#studz).
A call to action was put out in the form of Metallica’s rendition of “The Star Spangled Banner” followed by our mission statement and a call for Friendly New Guys (FNGs)… we had seven! And then, we were off for a Treveling Wilbury-style:
Warm-A-Rama
- SSH x 20 IC (at the gate)
- Copperhead Squats x 20 IC (at the intersection)
- Hill Billies x 20 IC (at the bottom of the mulch road)
- Sun Gods & Unwind (at lakeside parking lot)
- Steinl (at the base of the carousel) #CrowdPleaser
With 1 mile under our belts and the hearts a’pumping, it was time to count off in Red, White, and Blue Platoons for:
The Thang
- STATION ONE @ picnic benches
- 50 reps each – divided up as needed
- Bulgarian Split Squats
- Bench Press (using the picnic bench)
- Derkins
- Dips
- Leg Press (using the bench)
- STATION TWO @ Treetop Balcony
- 50yrd. Partner Carry
- (1 man Bear Crawls 1 lap around deck while others AMRAP one exercise. Rinse & Repeat)

“OMAHA!” called once all stations completed. The pax then found their way back to the shovel flag with a Traveling Wilbury-style:

- Box Cutters x 20 IC midway thorough the parking lot
- American Hammers x 50 IC @ the Shovel Flags
RECOVER!
Solid work by the Pax. YHC was honored to lead and thoroughly enjoyed the large crowd, the teamwork, the fellowship, and even the partner carry. Hopefully each of you found at least one moment to relish how lucky we are to get to play with our friends, get stronger, and sharpen iron with some of the best men in our community. How lucky are we?
Circle of Trust
We named our FNGs and closed out with the following:
“As Mankind becomes more liberal, they will be more apt to allow that all those who conduct themselves as worthy members of the community are equally entitled to the protections of civil government. I hope ever to see America among the foremost nations of justice and liberality.” – George Washington
Grace & Peace,
Tommy Boy
